I look for GOD in the early a.m. and see HIS hand there……..Sovereign fingers that have painted the sky all soft with pink and blue.  The view stills me.

PSALM 104: 2 “HE WRAPS HIMSELF IN LIGHT AS IF IT WERE A ROBE, SPREADING OUT THE SKY LIKE A CANOPY.”

As the day begins, I search for HIM again and find HIM speaking to me on my kitchen wall…….

HE speaks to me with just one simple word……..believe.

PSALM 105: 3 “HONOR HIS HOLY NAME; LET THE HEARTS OF THOSE WHO SEEK THE LORD REJOICE.”

In seeking GOD and looking for HIM in all places, we become GOD hunters.  Because HE is everywhere in every little corner of our lives.  Don’t miss HIM in the small, and don’t miss HIM in the large.  Don’t miss HIM in your day of trials or in your day of joys.  Because HE is there to be found.

JEREMIAH 29: 13 – 14 “YOU WILL SEEK ME AND FIND ME WHEN YOU SEARCH FOR ME WITH ALL YOUR HEART.  I WILL BE FOUND BY YOU.”

GOD tells us HE will be found.  But in order for that to happen…….we need to be intentional and open our eyes and look for HIM……..everywhere!

So, when was the last time you went looking?  Yesterday or today?  In this New Year, let’s be intentional……..let’s become GOD hunters.  Let’s change our spiritual eyes to eyes that seek.

I have found that not everyone wants to go deep with GOD and not everyone goes on a serious search.  Is it pride that keeps us from doing that?  Are we too afraid of what scripture might really mean for us or are we just too prideful to look in that mirror?

A friend of mine was just telling me yesterday how her study group has been into some serious studies……..lots of John MacArthur and others.  But now, one member wants to go back to the feel good, surface fluff studies.  

A serious GOD hunter is willing to continue to go deep.

The deeper we go into the word, the more it pulls us in……..we read more, study more and want to learn all we can.  It’s funny how GOD’S word can either convict us or make us run the other direction!  Where are you with the WORD right now…….does it pull you deep?  Do you manage your time so that you can sit for a few hours of study?

A serious GOD hunter hunts and thirsts after GOD.

PROVERBS 18: 4 “WISE WORDS ARE LIKE DEEP WATERS; WISDOM FLOWS FROM THE WISE LIKE A BUBBLING BROOK.”

A serious GOD hunter searches the Holy Scriptures for wisdom.

The deeper we go into HIS word, we find a treasure of unbelievable wisdom that cannot be found anywhere else in this world!  HIS word gives us wisdom and promises like none other…….

ISAIAH 43: 2-3 “WHEN YOU PASS THROUGH THE WATERS, I WILL BE WITH YOU; AND THROUGH THE RIVERS, THEY WILL NOT OVERFLOW YOU.  WHEN YOU WALK THROUGH THE FIRE, YOU WILL NOT BE SCORCHED, NOR WILL THE FLAME BURN YOU.  FOR I AM THE LORD YOUR GOD.”

The LORD deeply cares for us…….because HE says so.  Just listen to another verse from ISAIAH…..

ISAIAH 43: 4 “BECAUSE YOU ARE PRECIOUS IN MY SIGHT AND HONORED, AND I LOVE YOU.”

The LORD’S words for us are deep and profound……..they are mighty, insightful and loving.  Who wouldn’t want to search for a GOD who is all this and much much more!  Just think, all this we are given because HE first loved us!

And in our search, I encourage us to write HIS words down, research them, meditate on them, marinate in them.  Because then we will go deep, and HE will take us deeper still.  When we do this kind of seeking, this hunting, this thirsting for GOD and all that HE is……..then we come to adore, glorify and mature in our faith and love for HIM.

A serious GOD hunter prioritizes time to remain steadfast on the search.

 

As my day comes to an end……..I look to the skies and see again, the ONE who sees me.  I will continue my hunt and search this year.  I am more confident than ever, yes and steadfast in heart, that GOD will be found and along the way, my adoration of HIM will grow……..how about you?  Let your GOD hunting begin today!
