FIRMLY ANCHORED

Like a boat or ship that is anchored to a dock or the bottom of the ocean, we in turn should strive to be anchored to the LORD.

PSALM 119:  61   “EVIL PEOPLE TRY TO DRAG ME INTO SIN, BUT I AM FIRMLY ANCHORED TO YOUR INSTRUCTIONS.”

Being tethered to GOD is a remaining close, a deep down clinging to HIM with all heart and soul.  How are you anchored today?

JOHN 15:  4   “ABIDE IN ME, AND I IN YOU.” ESV

And the NIV version says it this way:

“REMAIN IN ME, AS I ALSO REMAIN IN YOU.”

To remain is to stay……..to sit with…….to draw close.  Are we drawing closer to GOD each day or are we drawing closer to the world?  If we are anchored then we are secure, there is not much movement and not much drift.

ANCHOR YOURSELF IN THE LORD AND KNOW YOU ARE HELD FIRMLY BY HIM

An anchor is a fixed object cast overboard so the boat or ship will not move.  A cruise ship anchor is typically 10 to 20 feet long and weighs between 10 to 20 tons!  Often large cruise ships have 3 anchors to keep them solid in one place. The links in the anchor chain are designed to be strong enough to hold the weight of the ship and withstand harsh marine conditions.

Anchoring for us comes in many different ways……..it can be a daily rhythm of devotions, prayers, study and worship.  If you are anchored by GOD you know HE has you.  There is a back and forth trust that you build upon each and every day.  The more you know HIM and remain close, the more you know your life and your path is anchored in HIM.

Obedience comes with this territory too.  We may not understand why HE pushes and pulls us in certain directions, but like those chain links attached to the anchor, we link each one of our days to HIM and anchoring in HIM keeps us steady and on course.  We weather each storm that comes and GOD keeps us still in the midst of them.

2 JOHN 1:  6   “AND THIS IS LOVE: THAT WE WALK IN OBEDIENCE TO HIS COMMANDS.”

When the LORD sits on the throne of your life, you know you are anchored in the ONE who knows what is best for you.  HE is your all and all and you cannot imagine any of your life without HIM!  HE is your anchor and you are tethered to HIM completely.

JOHN 10:  14   “I AM THE GOOD SHEPHERD.  I KNOW MY OWN, AND MY OWN KNOW ME.”

If you look at the anchor and the chain links that hold it, those links are incredibly strong.  We may feel weak at times in so many situations, but GOD is our power and strength and like those chain links, GOD’S graces for us link us to HIM.

When I am at my weakest is when I feel HIS strength upon me, holding me firmly and drawing me even closer than I ever was!

EPHESIANS 6:  10  “FINALLY, BE STRONG IN THE LORD AND IN THE STRENGTH OF HIS MIGHT.”

I know that I am forever anchored in GOD, how about you?  When you doubt just imagine a real anchor, and it’s links and know that GOD alone will keep you stable and secure no matter what this life brings!

JEREMIAH 50:  34   “THEIR REDEEMER IS STRONG; THE LORD OF HOSTS IS HIS NAME.”
