SUNDAY REFLECTIONS

SCARLET RIBBON OF HOPE OF SALVATION

Ever notice how you are drawn to the color red?  The eyes just find it.  And this time of year, the color red is everywhere you look.  There is nothing more lovely than a package tied with red ribbon under the tree.  We also decorate with red in our homes and even then the red pops out in a distinct way.

LONG AGO, JESUS’ BLOOD RAN RED IN THE DUST ON THE GROUND FOR ALL TO SEE.

His blood was shed for us, for all of mankind’s salvation.

HEBREWS 9: 12   “HE DID NOT ENTER BY MEANS OF THE BLOOD OF GOATS AND CALVES; BUT HE ENTERED THE MOST HOLY PLACE ONCE FOR ALL BY HIS OWN BLOOD THUS OBTAINING ETERNAL REDEMPTION.”

We have redemption in HIS blood…….HIS blood shed for us.  What a sacrifice and what a wonderful gift this gift of salvation.  If you think about it, JESUS was born with the blood of Mary’s womb and then HE died by the shedding of HIS own blood.  We are redeemed by the precious blood of JESUS CHRIST!

1 PETER 1: 18-19   “FOR YOU KNOW THAT YOU WERE REDEEMED FROM YOUR EMPTY WAY OF LIFE INHERITED FROM YOUR ANCESTORS, NOT WITH PERISHABLE THINGS LIKE SILVER AND GOLD, BUT WITH THE PRECIOUS BLOOD OF CHRIST, LIKE THAT OF AN UNBLEMISHED AND SPOTLESS LAMB.”

There is the sacred in the ordinary here.  We all bleed red.  And the concept of blood is a scarlet thread of salvation through all of history from the dawn of time up until now.  We read it on the pages of HIS book, a love story for all, for our souls…….

LEVITICUS 17: 11   “FOR THE LIFE OF THE FLESH IS IN THE BLOOD, AND I HAVE GIVEN IT TO YOU UPON THE ALTAR TO MAKE ATONMENT FOR YOUR SOULS; FOR IT IS THE BLOOD THAT MAKES ATONMENT FOR THE SOUL.”

Today, as you wrap your packages with those pretty red ribbons, remember what CHRIST did for you, HIS sacrifice for you, in HIS blood for you.  Embrace HIS sacrifice of love for you, a sacrificial gift for all time and a scarlet thread of salvation just for you and just for me.  Blessings dear one today on your Sunday in this special season of light.

1 PETER 1: 10   “THIS SALVATION WAS SOMETHING EVEN THE PROPHETS WANTED TO KNOW MORE ABOUT WHEN THEY PROPHESIED ABOUT THIS GRACIOUS SALVATION PREPARED FOR YOU.”

  1. We sometimes get a sunrise or sunset that sets the clouds ablaze with red. I think of Jesus’ blood covering the world. Yes, red is a color that God gave us for special meaning.

God bless you, Maxine, with a cheery Christmas dressed with the richness of His blood of salvation.
