We have had a change in our weather here in Arizona and several days of rain.  One of our desert pine trees in our front yard decided just overnight to up and die.  Who knows what caused it?  Could have been too much rain or not enough…….too much sun although I doubt that!  But whatever the reason, obviously it wasn’t structurally sound, because my other pine looks perfectly healthy.

Our faith can be structurally compromised as well.  It is the big storms of life that will expose our spiritual foundations.  Are yours sound?  Or let me put the question to you a different way……

does your inside match up with your outside?

Because if you are hoping no one sees or figures you out, you are wrong because GOD knows.  HE knows where you are with your relationship with HIM.  We can put on our spiritual best, but still be a fraud inside.  

If you stand daily on the word of truth, then your foundation will be a sound one.  If you are walking in step with JESUS, you are following HIS truth alone that frames your life, inside and out!

1 CORINTHIANS 3: “FOR NO ONE CAN LAY A FOUNDATION OTHER THAN THAT WHICH IS LAID, WHICH IS JESUS CHRIST.”

But if you only go to the LORD when there is a problem or a storm, then you are structurally compromised, because you have pushed the LORD to the fringes of your life and HE is not a genie in a bottle to anyone.

Honestly the only sound foundation is a sound doctrine…….are you standing on it?  

COLOSSIANS 2:8 “SEE TO IT THAT ON ONE TAKES YOU CAPTIVE THROUGH PHILOSOPHY AND EMPTY DECEPTION, ACCORDING TO THE TRADITION OF MEN, ACCORDING TO THE ELEMENTARY PRINCIPLES OF THE WORLD, RATHER THAN ACCORDING TO CHRIST.”

The gospel being the firm foundation that it is, is really all we need for a life and for godliness.

2 PETER 1:3 “HIS DIVINE POWER HAS GRANTED TO US EVERYTHING PERTAINING TO LIFE AND GODLINESS, THROUGH THE TRUE KNOWLEDGE OF HIM WHO CALLED US BY HIS OWN GLORY AND EXCELLENCE.”

If you are playing in false doctrine, worldly philosophies and different ways to approach the Gospel, New Age, Crystals etc……….RUN!

Run from all of it!  The only firm foundation and the only way to stand against the evils of this world and satan himself is with the GOSPEL of JESUS!!

The sufficiency of the GOSPEL allows us to gaze upon the glory of GOD and all that HE offers us and when we do, we should never allow ourselves to be moved from there.

The power of the GOSPEL frees us from sin and it’s grip on us and liberates us from our guilt.  It is why CHRIST died for us on the Cross……to set us free.

When I am weak, I like to envision myself standing upon a huge rock, a rock that cannot be moved, knowing that it is the ROCK of my GOD……..

Having a firm foundation under me, gives me the freedom to walk in HIS power and strength, so that I may face the day and all the schemes of the evil one.

And having a firm foundation means I am walking in step with GOD and following HIS truth that frames my life, inside and out!

REFUSE TO COMPROMISE ON THE GOSPEL, IT IS YOUR ONLY SOUND FOUNDATION.

Just remember, false anything in this world will crumble against the true word of GOD, so stand on HIS ROCK, never to be shaken and you can trust that you will stand firm now and forever!

PSALM 40: 2 “HE SET MY FEET ON A ROCK AND GAVE ME A FIRM PLACE TO STAND.”
